Confirmation

'God has called you by name and made you his own. Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit’
from the liturgy of Confirmation.

At Confirmation, an individual confirms the promises made on their behalf by parents and godparents at their baptism. It is therefore an unfolding and continuation of the meaning of Baptism and an important step in anyone’s faith. Having been Confirmed, an individual then receives Holy Communion for the first time.

Typically, Confirmation follows naturally as someone moves from childhood to adolescence, but these days many adults are Confirmed too, and it is never too late to do so. At St Michael’s, we prepare young people for Confirmation from school year 6 (ages 11+), and separate preparation for adults and children takes place each year, normally in the Spring. Please do speak to one of the clergy if you are thinking about Confirmation for you or your child.
